Alan Hodgson is BMT’s Global Business Development Manager for Consulting Services - Central Government and National Security. Prior to joining BMT, Alan enjoyed a long and successful career with the Metropolitan Police Service, New Scotland Yard. Alan’s last role was Head of Met Intelligence where he led a command of 1,325 officers and staff providing 24/7 intelligence development and support across the whole of London - helping the Met deliver against tough targets to cut costs, increase confidence and cut crime in an increasingly complex, connected world full of new threats and risks.
Alan’s career has focused on leading people, organisations and change – as a career detective and senior leader he has worked in a range of operational, policy and standards roles across investigation, intelligence, tasking & co-ordination functions as well major change roles within the Met’s strategic transformational change programme. He also has extensive experience of sensitive and covert law enforcement techniques deployed against high-risk threats, having led the largest Confidential Unit within UK policing.
Alan has worked extensively in partnership with a range of Government and Law Enforcement Agencies including the Home Office, Counter-Terrorism Policing, National Crime Agency and UK Regional Organised Crime Units. He is now using his ability to understand the needs of our customers and build trusted relationships to shape BMT’s business transformation and change consulting services and grow our market share in Central Government and National Security.

He is the current Consulting and Advisory Service’s Justice and Security Business Unit Lead at BMT. Prior to consulting, he held roles within law enforcement working for Police Forces and the National Crime Agency as a sworn officer.
